#51013b: 1968 Datsun 510 with RX7 swap for sale in Bakersfield CA for $10000 Rotary turbos just make so much sense for these Datsun 510's. Lots of power in a small package. This 510 has had a lot of work done to it but from the pictures it looks like it needs some TLC. Love the yellow and also has bluebird swapped taillights which is plus. Check it out here

I'm not comfortable with a rotary engine in a 510. The body also looks iffy.

Personally I'd like it 3" or so higher.

Yeah it needs work for sure, just fun to look at.

I just want to try it, don't really want it. Have you heard of the OS Giken Z engines?

Yes, I have, and they're stupidly expensive. When one of the heads (not the engine, just the head alone) crops up I think they're around $30,000 each.
At that point if you want a DOHC crossflow straight 6, you're better off with an RB30 motor with ITBs and no turbos, which is about as powerful (a little more so) and less expensive, or just get a Rebello motor.
It just really sucks that no one makes cheap crossflow/DOHC head kits for the L engine. Z Enthusiasts would buy them up, but I think engine swaps are too cheap for there to really be a market other than for historical/show pieces.

Yeah I figured its cheaper to swap. I just rebuilt my engine, Rebello is short on parts and says they have a backlog of 6mo to 1yr before they take anything. So I have triple carbs and stock motor/5 speed.

There was this one insane guy who cut up 2 KA24DE heads and modified them to bolt to the L block for a DOHC motor, as they can fit the 4-cylinder 510s. It was a lot of custom fabrication, and I think there's a thread lost in the internet about it.
